AmeriCanadians reviews Purple Lightning by Broken Coast Cannabis:

Well here I am, after a rather long hiatus you can expect me to be doing more reviews. I didn’t take a break from smoking a lot of different strains within the MMPR and MMAR scene. I have a bunch of reviews in the can that I will release in time, but I couldn’t wait anymore to talk about Broken Coast. After reviewing the pictures that Broken Coast had posted a few months back, I was intrigued right away. So I signed up with Broken Coast, our 11th Licensed Producer. Between my wife and I we have 9 active LPs at the moment, but that will change as a few won’t get renewed unless we see something impressive soon.

I was soon impressed by Broken Coast http://www.brokencoast.ca for numerous reasons, firstly the fast response to my application. Once approved and I had a log in, it was pretty darn easy to navigate my way thru their online ordering system and placed my 1st order which was Saturna, Flores and Valdes. Today I am talking about Satura also known as Purple Lightning. Let’s start with the price, $4.20 per gram. That’s right; under $5 grams can you believe it? I was pretty happy with that number, so I ordered 20 grams total, $84.00 before taxes, not bad at all!

Got a tad worried when I placed my order and was quoted 6 days on delivery. That seemed like a long time, even with a weekend in the mix, but soon learned that was just a smart stratedy that under promised and over delivered; it arrived in 4 days due to the weekend. So I ended up being happy, even though the delivery time was longer than BC rivals Tilray, who can hit 24 hours ish.

When my order of 3 strains did arrive it was in a plain nondescript box, once that box was opened I was greeted by 3 big colorful bags that were labeled with each strain. Really nice looking resealable bags contained green prescription jars that were also well labeled and sealed in a plastic ring. THEN I could open the jar and take a look at this very affordable strain. First off, the jar was loaded with nice sized buds, not shake or even popcorn sized buds, these were mini kola sized, very attractive looking! What I did notice was the buds were a bit “spindly”, further inspections showed a nice looking healthy bud that was well trimmed, had a moderate amount of trichromes and mostly matured. I might guess heat stress might have got to these gals since there were no nutritional clues to being stretched out. The buds were a light olive drab kind of green with healthy amounts of orange hairs frosted moderately with trichromes.

If you notice the dates, this bud sat for 6 months! I might have been upset before, but have recently learned how some buds really do improve over time. A few strains I ordered from Aphria and Delta9 showed this to be true after sitting for months. So this bud was cured, but not overly dry. It did dry out if I left buds on a tray for a long time.
During this strain review I ground up a good 2 grams and rolled a huge bomber. Saturna ground up nicely and didn’t powder up, still had oils and was sticky icky. It rolled up easily into one of my Bob Marley sized party joints.
It smoked really well in that joint! Burned even, burned smooth, burned slow and after 2 hits the tip was getting resins in there (no filter for this old guy).

Performance wise, it did the job quite well. I was feeling a nice head buzz and my shoulders and neck relaxed. Less than ½ of my Marley bomber and I was baked. Spent the next hour smoking on the roach and writing this review. Words are coming easy and motivation is increasing, so the 40% Sativa is noticeable at this point. Is this bud perfect? Well no, I reviewed it first as I considered it in last place out of the Broken Coast strains I have tried so far, but frankly this bud is still better than many other LPs BEST efforts, so keep that in mind. It was the price that got me and after smoking it, the value that this strain represents is worth noting. I would give this Purple Lightning 3.5 stars out of 5 possible. I’m pretty confident the next batch of this will be improved upon.

brybearrr reviews Mettrum Blue N°1 by Mettrum Ltd.:

Smells very floral and fruity with a slight funk. Crystally, with lots of orange but almost pink hairs. Very flowery and berry-like with honey taste. The taste is so nice, I'd like to bake with this one or make tea with it!! But it's so expensive I don't think I could do that right now. The high feels happy. It helped me enjoy some music. Relaxing enough for laying on the couch, but not so badly that it's too hard to get up and do things. Creates a nice mix of a head and body high, though leaning towards the body high. However, my head doesn't feel too clouded or drowsy. I can't get over how this is relaxing enough for a restful day, but also gentle enough for a day with some activities. It seems fairly balanced. I think perhaps this is a strain that could work well for people that want to do some creative activities or low-impact physical activities like swimming or playing with the dogs, perhaps followed by a short nap. However, some difficulties may occur with highly cognitive activities.

This is a really nice strain!

I keep feeling sometimes like I'm waiting for an anxiety attack, but my heart doesn't start pounding like on some other strains. Perhaps because of the high cbd? I am getting some dizziness though, so watch out for that.

muggles reviews Delta 9 CBD Skunk Haze by Delta 9:

I ordered 20 g of CBD Skunk Haze. The buds were small to medium sized, rock hard with lots of trichomes. Most buds were lime green with orange hairs but a few buds were completely covered in orange hairs. The smell is spicy and sweet with hints of pine. This strain came in at 10.1% THC and 10% CBD.

I medicated using this strain by smoking and vaporizing. The effects were very clear headed and calming. This has been the best strain I’ve tried for reducing my anxiety.

I decided to try and make a glycerin tincture out of the CBD skunk haze. I like tinctures because they are a quick and discreet way to get the cannabinoids into your system. Just a bit under the tongue and you can feel the effects within 10-15 minutes as opposed to 30-60 minutes with edibles. You can also add it to water, tea/coffee, pop and discreetly medicate on the go. Vegetable glycerin has a sweet taste to it.

There are two methods, cold extraction and hot extraction. As the cold extraction can take up to 6 months, I went with the hot extraction. I ground up 14g of the skunk haze. I also added about a gram of keif and 7g of lightly vaporized weed of various strains. I put the cannabis in a mason jar and covered with 250ml of pharmaceutical grade 100% vegetable glycerin. I heated it over a double boiler for 7 hours. I let it sit over night then put it in the oven for 30 mins to further decarboxylate and to heat up the tincture to make it easier to strain. I poured the mixture over cheesecloth into a mason jar. I was left with a very nice tasting golden honey. I saved the marihuana and further extracted it in some coconut oil.

The effects of the tincture are much like smoking/vapourizing. It greatly reduced my anxiety but the effects on the body were more pronounced than smoking.

Big thanks to Kirk Tousaw, Owen Smith and Ted Smith for making this legal for all patients!
